T he conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on for decades.   The fighting we see in 2021 is over the same issues in hatred born of 100 years of struggle. So how did it start? Well, after the Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War One, Britain took control of the area known as Palestine, a strip of land between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea. In those days it included a large Arab majority and a Jewish minority. The international community tasked Britain with setting up a, quote, national home to Jewish people in Palestine.
